A roving band of therapy sheep. DHS Counseling and Davis FFA are partnering with UC Davis to bring the Sheepmowers to Davis High School. Research shows that interacting with animals can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and lift spirits. It’s also a great way to take a wellness break before class. Come hang out and snapchat sheep! The UC Davis Sheepmowers are part of a multidisciplinary study exploring the ecological and cultural benefits of incorporating sheep into campus maintenance routines. In addition to determining if sheep can mow and fertilize lawns as well as conventional landscaping methods, the project is also investigating whether sheep can help reduce stress and improve mental health.
